On the final day of the festival, the Main Stage at Dansens Hus will be filled with battles, jams and good vibes. As in previous years, there will be two different concepts: the duet concept **“Encounters 1+1”**, where dancers from all genres meet in an improvised duet on the floor, and a more traditional hip hop battle concept.

Sons Of Wind
Company
Sons Of Wind
Company
Sons of Wind (SOW) represent a lifestyle. Since they were established in 2013, they have explored hip hop freestyle, both in movement and music, in order to preserve and carry forward a shared cultural heritage that stretches from past to future. Since 2021, SOW has been supported and followed by the FAIR-E / CCN collective in Rennes and Brittany, and by Théâtre Louis Aragon in Tremblay-en-France in the 22–23 and 23–24 seasons.
SOW is a group made up of around twenty artists within dance, music, photography and video. The name points to a pure and simple idea of movement, and to a group where knowledge and expression are constantly shared and passed on between the members. It also refers to the diversity of identities that give the group life. Here, the individual is in the service of the collective. Sharing and transmission are at the core of the project. The artists wish to pass on what they themselves experience through music. S.O.W are more concerned with the experiences created than with the finished result.
Piero Issa and Ole Petter Knarvik were part of founding Absence Crew in 1999.
Since then, they have worked closely together on productions aimed at children and young people. They have collaborated with Riksteatret, Den Nationale Scene, the Bergen International Festival and DKS.
In addition, they have carried out international projects in Afghanistan, China and Spain.
Their work combines dance, storytelling and documentary elements, with a focus on presence, play and audience participation.
Their latest project, Sans, is a dance performance created for children. The idea arose during a visit to Kabul, where they improvised without electricity and technical equipment. The performance explores presence in the moment and the fundamentals of dance and music.
The children’s curiosity and co-creation are at the centre.

Røtter i Bevegelse – Carlos Cantún
Carlos Cantún, better known as Gato, is a dancer and choreographer with roots in breaking and rocking, and an emerging practice within the contemporary field. His choreographic work revolves around migration, belonging, and human dignity—themes he knows intimately after a decade-long journey toward safety.
The piece he creates for Soul Sessions Encounters, Røtter i bevegelse ('Roots in Motion'), will be his first solo production as a choreographer. A meeting of breaking, rocking, and contemporary theater. Audiences can expect a deeply personal journey where flight, waiting, new beginnings, and the search for safety are transformed into movement, breath, and rhythm on stage.
What happens when the body reclaims its own language, its expression, and its value—without being filtered through someone else’s gaze?
Eshidoreen Paradiso is a dance artist and choreographer with a background in street and club dance and hip-hop freestyle. As a choreographer, she explores identity, freedom, and stories rooted in the experiences of women of color—and in her new work, she examines how movement can carry meaning and become conversations between bodies.
On stage, Paradiso is joined by dancers Aaliyah Jakobsson and Claudio Fernandez, both highly accomplished hip-hop artists with strong qualities and presence.
Emma Damskau (NO) is an Oslo-based choreographer and dancer. She works across genres between club, stage, performance and ritual, and is interested in how dance styles carry emotional, energetic and symbolic qualities that open up new narratives.
In her new piece, motherhood is brought forward as a creative and transformative force. The piece is a bodily and collective exploration of a transition that, in a Nordic context, often remains invisible and individualized.
Premiere at Dansens Hus on 6 March 2026.
Performances also 7 - 8 March.

Performance: BOUNCE // Sons Of Wind
Friday 6th March // 19:30–20:15
Saturday 7th March // 17:30–18:15
Ten dancers from the renowned collective Sons of Wind (SOW) take the stage with a performance that lets the music hit directly through the body. Bounce is not just dance, it is living proof of how hip hop’s fundamental pulse creates movement, community and a unique form of freedom.
At a time when hip hop is everywhere – on TV, in music videos and on social media – Bounce invites you back to the roots. Here they explore the force that gives the dance life: bounce, groove, rock & roll, everything that arises in the magical meeting between music and body.
Sons of Wind are more than a group. They are a family of multidisciplinary artists who, for ten years, have lived to share, develop and challenge movement. For them, everything is about transmission: of energy, of experience, of music that becomes movement, and movement that becomes stories.
In Bounce, the dancers create a space where everything is in flow. Where moments arise, change and are shared. Where collective power and personal expression melt together. And where the music, produced by S.O.W. themselves, steers, lifts and drives the performance forward.
The result? An intense, raw and deeply musical experience that pulses with life.
A performance that makes you feel the music – not just hear it.
Step into the universe of Sons of Wind. Where everything starts with a beat. And anything can happen.
On Thursday 5 March 2026, the performance SANS will be shown as part of the festival Soul Sessions Encounters.
Piero Issa and Ole Petter Knarvik invite you on a journey of senses, wonder and discovery – completely without the use of technology. This is a performance for the whole family, where the children’s curiosity and own movements help create magical moments. Through rhythmic sounds, bodily expression and simple means, SANS captures the children’s attention. The audience is invited to move together with the dancers and is given space to express themselves in their own unique way.
The performance has toured both in Norway and in China – and we are now very excited to present it in the Opera House foyer! We encourage everyone to listen, wonder and dance along!
Performed in the Opera House Foaje at 14:30 and 17:00, right before admission to the premieres, in Prøvesalen.
Duration: 22 minutes
Suitable for children from 3 years and up, as well as adults.
Festival Director, Encounters: Camilla Tellefsen
